Amanda

Amanda took me on a brilliant walk through woodland trails, apple orchards, and new footpaths. I saw my first Roman Snails www.en.wikipedia.org in the wood, and walked through fields of cowslips.

While we walked Amanda told me that her mother-in-law, a botanist, was thrilled to see so many cowslips and that it was a great year for them. It was news to me and what a story it turned out to be! Following sharing the picture of the cowslips field on Facebook, my friend asked a few of her old friends, also on Facebook, about a single protected cowslip that had featured in a school ecology trip over 20 years ago. One week and over 160 comments later, a new Facebook group was started so that everyone could stay in touch!

Amanda is an actor working in community theatre in Kent, bringing people’s stories to life through drama. She is full of energy and has a fabulously free laugh. It was a pleasure to walk with her and see a few of the places that she likes best where we live.
